As a lover of all things zombie and paranormal, I plan to welcome summer TV back with open arms.
The summer used to mean the death of TV. Now it just means the death of humans and the rise of the zombie. No longer a vast wasteland of reruns and talk shows…I can watch my favorite kind of programs all year round.
It was painful to say goodbye to The Walking Dead and wait until October for my fix. Now I have Fear the Walking Dead and other fantastic programming of the paranormal persuasion to fill the void until my favourites return, along with cardigans, boots and pumpkin lattes.
As human beings shy away from outdoor activities, evolving slowly into total technophiles (vampires) that shy away from natural light but bask in the glow of their LED screens, so too has television evolved. Now we can look forward to premieres all year long and with the advent of streaming sites like Netflix and Hulu, we can watch original content or binge watch our favourites any time we want. Hooray!
So as summer approaches and I watch the season finales of my winter shows such as The Walking Dead, iZombie, Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments, The Vampire Diaries and Lucifer (yes you are detecting a theme ), I can get excited for my summer line up too. I can even start a new series. My binge show of choice…Penny Dreadful!
So get some snacks, a glass of wine and make yourself comfortable because it’s going to be a great summer.
Here’s what I’ll be watching .
Fear the Walking Dead (Season 2 premier April 10 AMC 9 PM)
Containment (Series premier April 19 CW 9 PM)
Preacher (Series premier May 22 AMC 10 PM )
Wayward Pines (Season 2 premier May 25 FOX 9 PM)
