The Raging Ones is a new YA-series from NA-best selling authors Krista and Becca Ritchie.
This is the first book in their first sci-fi series, and it is really good! filled with intrigue, suspense, worldbuilding and character chemistry, The Raging Ones is a start to what could be a mind-bending exciting new addition to the sci-fi genre.
The series tells the story of three characters uniquely connected by being able to feel each other’s emotions and even feel what the other is feeling, physically. It definitely makes for some awkward, intense, embarrassing times, but it can also be useful.
Court, Mykal and Franny have unexplainably managed to avoid their death days and are trying to figure out why and how because eventually people will realise (on a planet where people know the day they’re going to die).
Mykal, Franny, Court – all three of these teenagers have lived hard lives. They’re all incredibly strong in different ways.
They are truly holding each other’s hearts in the palm of their hands. The characters go through an adventure to figure out what has happened to them and what they can do to avoid getting caught in a world where people are categorised depending on what age group they’ll eventually die at.
Court, Mykal and Franny develop a beautiful connection that is intense, filled with a closeness only a bond like theirs could induce.
As expected with YA fiction, there is a ton of world-building, plot-twists and excellent side characters that I really enjoyed. When I read the premise for the book, I had no idea where it could go, but it’s most definitely interesting and worth reading for. I really liked the ideas presented in the book and cannot wait for more to be explored.
If you enjoy a slice of romance alongside your sci-fi, there is a clear romance between two characters. Krista and Becca Ritchie have a wonderful skill at being able to create characters that interact so well and have excellent chemistry. As for the other characters, then many possibilities, but the romance doesn’t overtake the story, the romance is actually very minimal. The focus of the story lies in the adventure.
“You’ve stolen my heart, you little crook.” His smile only stretches further and brighter. “My most valuable theft.”
I was quite shocked by the plot-twist at the end, and I wish I had book two right now! I really cannot imagine where the story is going to go from here, it could really go anywhere, so I’m very intrigued to see where it goes, so I will definitely be picking up book two!
