Finally! I got to watch the season 3 finale of The Originals and it was spectacular!
Having been extremely busy this summer, I have not been able to keep on top of all of my favourite shows. Especially when so many fabulous new TV series have been introduced. I had been saving a handful of episodes of The Originals to watch when I had some quiet time to myself. Wow! So worth the wait!
The Originals (Back Story)
This wonderfully addictive show is a spin-off from The Vampire Diaries (another fav) and centers around the Mikaelson siblings. Particularly, Klaus- The incredibly sexy and enormously talented Joseph Morgan. The other siblings are Elijaj (Daniel Gillies) and Rebekah (Claire Holt). Lastly a stunning werewolf, whom Klaus had a one-night stand with, named Hayley joins the family because she gets pregnant with his baby.
The show begins with the original siblings returning to the city of New Orleans for the first time since the 1900’s. The family originally built the city but were forced to flee from their vengeful, vampire slaying father. After they leave, Klaus’ young sireling, Marcel, takes charge of the city.
Klaus vows to take down Marcel and get back the city that once belonged to them. While doing that they must also protect their city from a war brewing between vampires, werewolves and witches. Over time, new and old friendships are formed, lovers meet, death surrounds them and most of all they learn more about their own family past.
For paranormal fans that want something a little more sophisticated but no less exciting.
For seven seasons I have been a loyal Vampire Diaries fan. When the Originals, namely Klaus, was introduced to us…we fell hard. So it was hardly surprising then, that these sexy, vicious and interesting new characters got a show of their own. Going into its fourth season with no end in sight. The Originals have provided fans like myself, who watched The Vampire Diaries, but wanted something a little more mature, a refreshing alternative. Imagine…Vamps, werewolves and witches but with adult storylines. We still want our fantasy, we just want it to involve beautiful creatures past the legal drinking age.
The Originals has been non-stop action since its pilot in 2013. New and exciting characters are introduced and more often than not, killed off on a regular basis. The love stories rival any soap opera in their complexity and are a million times hotter! The main characters are so richly layered that you become attached and inevitably live and suffer with them. The most important thing, to me anyway, are the riveting storylines. I myself, like to save up several episodes and have a mini-binge because one show is never enough.
Yes I am a total fangirl!
Naturally I will watch the very last season of The Vampire Diaries (Sniff). I will be devastated when the last scene of the series finale fades to black. I mean what am I going to do without my Damon Salvatore fix? It sure is comforting to know, that I have The Originals to give all my love and devotion to. And just between, us…this show may just deserve it just a little bit more. If you haven’t watched The Originals yet, set yourself up for a good, long marathon session. I personally guarantee you will not be disappointed. Just think…3 whole seasons of vampire goodness, just waiting for you.
