Insight has so much! Psychics! Murder! This was an intense and thrilling read from Santino Hassell. Filled with romance and mystery and magic!
Nate is born from a family of psychics who have powers which range from absolutely incredible to slightly useful.
Nate is an empath which means he can feel other people’s emotions by being near them or touching them, like a sort of aura. He can feel the horrors they’re experiencing or the happiness radiating from them.
Nate works at a liquor store and is extremely lonely because his powers make it impossible for him to become close to anyone. During one of his shifts, he has an extremely powerful vision and then bam, he gets the news. His twin brother is dead. Nate can’t stay with his relatives anymore and decides to go to New York to find out what happened to his brother and this is where he meets Holden for the first time (that he remembers).
During one of his shifts, he has an extremely powerful vision and then bam! He gets the news. His twin brother is dead.
Nate can’t stay with his relatives anymore and decides to go to New York to find out what happened to his brother and this is where he meets Trent for the first time (that he remembers). Trent is a college student who himself is returning to New York. At first, Nate isn’t sure about going with him, but Trent gives him the vibe that no one else has given him. A vibe of warmth, safety, and comfort. Over the course of their road trip, they slowly become friends. They get to know each other and learn about each other’s past. Confiding in each other and trusting each other slowly increases. It’s very hot! Especially when you think about how much Nate can feel when he touches someone.
“I’m afraid. And you’re the only person I can trust. And even though it’s selfish of me to drag you into this, even though we could both end up in more trouble than we can probably handle, I know I can count on you to have my back.”
During this journey, he comes across a community of psychics, when all his life he’s believed him and his family were the only ones!
Here we are introduced to lots of characters who contribute to this mystery. You will be asking yourself lots of questions while reading this book. However, the romance is not the primary story in this book, in case you were expecting that. I really did love their relationship, though. Their relationship was full of communication and trust and I adored that.
“I can feel you.”
“And is that a good or bad thing?”
“It’s good,” Nate whispered. “Like this fucking flood of . . . of light and warmth. It’s almost powerful enough to wash everything else away.”
Insight is the first book in The Community series, however, this couple’ story is concluded. The next book will feature one of the side characters as the main! I’m so looking forward to it!!
This book was given as an ARC. This is being posted a bit later than it should have been but it took a while to get through my ARC list!
